Every morning I walk the same street to the Montgomery Muni station on my way to work. I can never remember the name; we call it “The Stinky Alley”. I love that I’m color coordinating with the yellow dots by the curb.

Side note: I’ve recently learned that these small sections of yellow, bumpy sidewalk aren’t to trip unassuming women in heels. On the contrary, they are essentially a stop sign for the blind or Braille for your feet. Brilliant.

Things I Hear on Public Transit #2

I love public transportation. Yes it’s dirty and unreliable, but the true gems of public transit are the people. Recently, I started cataloguing some of the amazing things I overhear. Its fun already, isn’t it?

This one needs so much explanation, yet none at all. I’ll leave you with the latter.

Sunday feet

If you compare my feet from two weekends ago and this past weekend, you’d think the only thing I do is walk around wearing cute dresses, having brunch, and buying groceries in the California sunshine.

…And that thought in itself should teach you to never make assumptions.

I really like showing movement in this series. Even while at work or hanging out at home, my feet seem to be in a state of perpetual motion. Or maybe I just have restless leg syndrome.

Taking pictures of my feet has made me think more about the shoes I wear each day, and it seems I tend to gravitate toward the same three to four camel colored something-or-other. These past two Sundays I busted out of my comfort zone to sport sandals and a pair of grey wedges. Daring, I know.

A week in feet

A combination of last week, this week, and a little bit of everything in between. I’m generally not a prolific person, however socially awkward that may be. That being said, I give you feet.

One of my favorite Sunday morning activities is hitting up the Farmer’s Market at UN Plaza at Civic Center. Not only is there a ridiculous abundance of fresh produce, I love the fact that I can purchase most of my grocery list for the week at around $10. While I realize its not all organic, it is local. Can you smell the transportation fumes I’m saving? No. You can’t.

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you’re probably aware that my husband and I have started running…again. Our previous attempts consisted of us running separately, so it really shouldn’t come as a surprise that we’re much more successful when we’re together.

Today was Father’s Day and I’d be lying if I said this weekend wasn’t tough. I’ve never been particularly sentimental. And yes, I’m the girl who forgets holidays, anniversaries, and birthdays — even my own. Saturday morning, I received a card from my aunt with a picture of my dad holding the 1 year old version of me. It was a particularly touching and most likely a common moment in time that I’ll hold onto for as long as I can.

On the way to work feet

I’ve got more pictures of feet on my iPhone than anyone realistically should at any given moment. That means it’s time to post.

Interestingly (and unsurprisingly), feet interact with feet in much the same way people interact with other people. Exploring and uncovering these instances is like people watching. Sit back and watch.

Feet: Taking Me Places Since 1983

Living in a highly walkable city without a car means I walk. A lot.

Feet on Muni

Given the choice to walk a mile or take public transit, 9 times out of 10 I’ll choose to walk. There’s nothing like immersing yourself the beautiful, crazy, enchanting streets of San Francisco. That’s why I’ve decided to start a series on feet.

Feet at home

Feet are a grossly under appreciated part of the body. Especially mine. I can count the number of times on one finger I’ve gotten a pedicure, so it’s time they get some love.

This series will introduce you to the places my feet go and other feet they meet. Feet portraits if you will. Some people take pictures of food. I take pictures of feet. There’s more to come. Enjoy.
