@ Dan: I’ve been trying to come up with a clever response to your question about bioelectric energy…but the best thing I could do was look it up on Wikipedia.

I would say reason we’re trying the raw diet for a week is to see what it’s like. From everything I could find online, people who convert to a raw diet feel more energized, see a reduction in headaches, and feel better overall. What really intrigued me was the headache claim (on average, I get about 3-4 headaches a day) so I wanted to see if it is really true. Granted, I from everything I’ve read my “testing period” should be more like a month, so this is more like a pre-test test just to see if I can stick to it.

So, in terms of scientific evidence, I don’t have any answers, but I’ll let you know how it works!

Hope the food is tasty, but I still wonder about statements like:

Raw food ensures that the nutritional value of the food remains enzymatically and nutritionally intact.

Also the cooking tends to interfere with the bioelectrical energy, necessary for sustaining life. Eating raw food goes a long way in cleansing your bloodstream and eliminating the waste products that are responsible for the formation of toxins in the body.

Most of the claims confuse me! Enzymes get destroyed by all the acid and proteases in the stomach, and so partially destroying them through cooking should actually aid in digestion. And I don't see any way that uncooked food would cleanse the bloodstream or eliminate toxins. Have you heard how any of these things are suppose to work? I've heard a lot about 'raw foods' but none of the claims seem to make sense.

Oh, Brooke, how exciting! I've made that recipe, too, and it's a good one. But I salivate over about anything with guacamole.

I wish you a very healthful week, with lots of strength to withstand cravings for non-raw foods!
