An attempt to curb my luck

I have horrible luck with bikes. A few months ago, St Patrick’s Day to be exact, I was in a bike accident that temporarily cost me my sense of taste and smell. And no doubt a few brain cells. Since then, I’ve vowed to stay away from them.

A friend recently sent me a link to this bike helmet by the Swedish company Hövding, and it just may have me re-thinking my vow. It’s a stunning feat of a marriage between technology and fashion.

And that dress! Eat your heart out.

Strike My Fancy 03

It’s Monday and that means Strike My Fancy, your weekly sneak peak into my inbox is here. Beautiful things happen when Diesel and Banana Republic collide. Wouldn’t you agree?

Obsessed with Alexander Wang

While we’re all waiting on my Commute Project design from yesterday to finish up (I’m keeping it a secret, but it’s out of my hands at this point), I thought I’d share some images from the Alexander Wang Fall/Winter 2011 Runway show. It stopped me in my tracks.

Not only does he have a glorious mix of texture, I can’t stop drooling over the inky blacks and silky ivory color palette.

Go here for more images.

Strike My Fancy

I’ve been collecting random bits and images from my email over the past few weeks and thought I’d share. Email marketing and strategy is for work. Email collages are for fun. Sometimes they collide.

Death by Chocolate Cake

My stomach has been grumbling at me all morning, which means any food-related internet thing I run across is killing me.

For example, Stylish White Female (who is supposed to be posting pictures of her killer outfits) is blogging about baked potatoes and kale. To top things off, I just found out from a friend on Facebook that today is National Chocolate Cake day.

Gah! What’s a girl gotta do to get a giant piece of chocolate cake?

P.S. I also like any kind of cheesecake.

I’m completely in love with a new-ish website called Svpply.com. Seriously. In L-O-V-E. It’s proven to be a fantastic way to catalog items throughout the week to showcase in my Must Have Monday feature on Twitter.

These are a few of my favorites that make me feel warm and fuzzy:

Leather iPad Case from Temple Bags

Cluster Pendant Lights from West Elm

Fur Ankle Boots with Buckle from Zara

Long before Lady Gaga

I found these amazing looks on the Fashionista blog today and can’t stop staring. I love!

About two years ago, photographer Ted Sabarese commissioned 15 designers to create looks made entirely of food. Sabarese explains on his site that the photo project, titled “Hunger Pains,” was intended to explore the relationship between people and the food they eat. (see the full set of photos on Behance)

Take that and your meat dress too Lady Gaga.
