DESIGN #20: ONE TREE HILL
Despite some teasing, I have always really liked U2. I've had Bullet the Blue Sky in my head most of the day, but the One Tree Hill letters just looked better in this composition. Plus, it's got an extremely emotional story behind it and the sound reflects that. More history behind the lyrics in the design below...
DESIGN #19: FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS
My husband and I fell in love with Bret and Jemaine from Flight of the Conchords a couple of years ago. They are just generally funny guys. Design #19 was inspired when the lyrics to Hiphopopotamus Vs. Rhymenoceros jumped into my head at 5:30am this morning. (I went to bed at 9:30pm last night, so yes, that is an acceptable time to be awake.) The poster was mainly created in Illustrator and I pulled it into Photoshop to add texture. The font is Neighborhood.
DESIGN #18: SHEL SILVERSTEIN
Probably one of my favorite childhood authors to date is Shel Silverstein and his "The Missing Piece" book. If you're over the age of 10 and have never read anything by Shel, put down what you're doing and get to the nearest library. You've been deprived.
DESIGN #17: YOU NEVER LEARN ANYTHING
DESIGN #16: SOMETIMES YOU'VE JUST GOTTA SAY IT YOURSELF
And just because that design above wasn't super exhilarating, here's a cute video called Things to Learn by Matt Edgar. Illustrations are by Christian Borstlap.
If this doesn't cheer you up, it's time to go to bed.

DESIGN #15: EVERYONE NEEDS A BERET
I can't say I'm sad that this is the last day I'm challenging (think forcing) myself to use an image in every design. It's been a little difficult, and I can't say that my designs this week have been super impressive, but then again that's what challenges are for right? That being said, I do really like this design. It's a little early to tell, but I think geometric shapes are my new obsession. In fact, I'm contemplating dedicating a month just to circles. Mitch Hedberg is an American stand-up comedian known for his surreal humor and uunconventional comedic delivery. Find more about him on Wikipedia. I really don't know anything about him other than his beret quote made me chuckle.
